Every year, California students take several statewide tests. Your child may be taking one or more of the following California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), and Physical Fitness Test assessments. Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents/guardians may annually submit to the school office a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments. There is no exemption for the ELPAC or Physical Fitness Test.

Cada año, los estudiantes de California realizan varias pruebas estatales. Es posible que su hijo tome una o más de las siguientes pruebas: Evaluación del Rendimiento y Progreso del Estudiante de California (CAASPP, por sus siglas en inglés), Evaluaciones de Competencia en idioma Inglés para California (ELPAC, por sus siglas en inglés) y las Pruebas de Aptitud Física. The CAASPP will be administered to Monte Vista Middle School students April 7, 2026-May 1, 2026. Please carefully review the information provided. 

Kindergarten registration for the 2026/2027 school year will begin 03/02/26. Please note that in order to register for Kindergarten for the 2026/2027 school year, your child’s birthdate must fall between
 September 2, 2020, and September 1, 2021.

Physical Fitness Test 2025-2026 

Students in grades 5, 7, & 9 will participate in the state-mandated California Physical Fitness Test (PFT) this spring. Testing will take place between February 1 and May 15, 2026. 

You play an important role in your child’s education and can help your child get ready for the test.

For those families unable to attend our 8th Grade Promotion Information Night, click here for a presentation with information about the promotion activities, costs, and eligibility.
